Re: 1934 Utica Sterlingworth and Linseed oil?

I have had some decent results (not miracles) with Bri wax lightly rubbed on or Renaissance wax. Clean lightly first. (not talking about removing any coating just dirt) https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2227541091/renaissance-wax-rust-preventative-and-gun-stock-polish The Bri wax only works if the w...

Re: RUSH card question

I will offer a WAG with no proof what-so-ever except it seems plausible. Since the early guns were bench made (I presume) and the numbers shown are all low numbers could it be the bench or gunmaker assignment. It would seem as soon as an order is taken and card filled out it wold need to assigned to...

Re: Nash Buckingham's Dog Found

Thanks Dave. I spent a day at the main branch of the Memphis Library in the special reading room (or something like that) going through all of Nash's books. They have a complete set but you have to read them on site. I came away with two theories IF it is Nash's dog. One would be "Chubb" b...

Nash Buckingham's Dog Found

I have a light hearted topic for the dog days of summer that are upon us. I think I have one of Nash's favorite dogs at my house. Before you start doing the dog year math let me qualify that this dog is in the form of a 1919 oil painting purchased at Shelby Foote's estate sale in 2011. Most historia...

Re: Late season doves

Stan: Great Pic. Curious as to when the sunflowers were planted for this late season hunt? We plant here (near Memphis) between April 15 and May 15 for September opener. I have had them regenerate from fallen seed but the frost always catches the "second" crop.

What a great looking gun with unique specs. The prodigal gun story (bad pun intended) just makes it better! Congrats.
