Normally I enjoy posting pictures this time of the year, but this has been the slowest duck season of my life. On the 5th day I finally shot one wood duck. We’e had rainy days, windy days, and sunny days, but very few ducks. I think they all moved to the Finger Lakes region of New York.

Congratulations and thanks for the pictures. Please keep them coming, I’m having a slow season. Duck hunting is a lot of fun with a Fox SxS.

Congratulations! It sounds like a real beauty. Hopefully we’ll see a picture of it with a dead pheasant in the near future.

Wow! You’re getting a lot of action. Do you pluck the entire bird, or simply fillet off the breasts? I do both, depending on the bird and time at hand.

Wow! That’s an amazing pile of ducks. I assume that includes your son’s ducks, or you have very generous limits (14?). Mollie looks good.

Re: Opening day with the 28" DE
Congratulations on a very successful hunt, and that sure is a beautiful gun. I really like the checkering, especially on the forearm. Just out of curiosity, did you use any wood duck decoys? I always set out a half dozen close to the shore, and I bought a new wood duck call while at the Southern. I ...

Bill, yesterday I went woodcock hunting with “Foxnut” and his wonderful dog Rose. Thanks to your instruction, the Infallible trigger worked flawlessly. I missed every bird, but the trigger worked great.

Re: Almost done.
Tom, glad to hear that you’re heading back to Michigan. I’ve heard that there was a lot of damage to trees in the Gaylord area from last spring’s ice storm. Could be tough hiking. Good luck and keep us posted. We moved a bit further south based on that ice storm. Too many widow makers up where we p...
