information about Fox 28596

Hello I was hoping that I could find some information about this gun.
I would like to know what year it would have been made, and about how many late style A grades were made?
Thanks in advance for any information that can be given.

Re: Savage Fox question

Just my opinion but the small line of rust along the rib and the barrels, makes me think that it was cold blued. I think hot bluing would have covered that area better, and would not show a rust line. And the Dealer that is selling the gun is great to deal with, I have bought many guns from them ove...

Re: newbie with questions about my 1913 Sterlingworth

Why soak the entire stock, when you are removing oil from just the head of the stock? I use a container to soak the head in to remove oil using less acetone and alcohol, that lets me dump out the old and put in fresh. The whole stock laying in a acetone, alcohol and oil bath is removing oil from the...

Re: fitting keels and plugging holes between barrels

When replacing keels I leave the keel stand a bit proud of the barrels. When the keel is fieled down even with the end of the barrels, it leaves the keel metal exposed with a solder outline. tinning the keel befor inserting it in barrel helps, and all surfaces must be cleen for a good bond. This mig...

Sterlingworth question

I have a 12 gauge Philadelphia Sterlingworth # 114170 with 30" barrels that measure 3.75" to the start of the forcing cones. I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen chambers this long in a Sterlingworth. I believe the gun was made in 1927 and was wondering if anything that long was be...

Re: Barrel wall thickness

I did get my answer on the doublegun site.
And the LC Smith fact section has a new list on barrel wall thickness that answered a lot of questions for me.
Thanks

Barrel wall thickness

Hello everyone I have a Philadelphia Sterlingworth, and the forcing cones have been lengthened at some time in its life. They now measure 3 3/4" they are smooth with no tool marks and look factory done, but I don't think Fox did them in that length. I took measurements of the barrel thickness a...
