Re: Ridiculously heavy loads
When we first started serious Canada goose hunting it was out of field pits primarily and very rarely out of a water blind. This would have been c. 1967. We bought a couple of boxes of these exact loads, certain they would be the ultimate for pass shooting the big honkers. They worked, but were brut...

Re: Hunting Season(s) Approaching - What gun(s) will go with you for opening day?
Took the Amish Gun (32" 20 ga. A Grade SG SFE) out for the dove opener but wound up never firing a shot. The only dove that came near me was way too close to shoot (c. 10 ft.). Not many birds moving; high gun for a party of c. 20 hunters was 5 birds. It was just great to be out again on a nice ...

Re: 2024 Vintage Cup
What Frank said - I attended Sandanona for the years the VC was held there as a vendor (PGCA booth) when I was into collecting and shooting Parkers. Loved the area, the location, the people and the events. You really felt you were a part of something worthwhile. The ancillary attractions made for gr...

Re: "This is Sxxt"
Ten or 12 years ago, a friend of mine's electrician told him about a an "old Remington double that is completely covered with engraving" that he found in a pawnshop the electrician haunted on a weekly basis. My friend asked me to accompany him to inspect the gun since he was just getting i...

Re: Fox Double Barrel 16 Gauge
WOW; great gun! To my way of thinking there was no finer design than the gun built on these specs for grouse and woodcock hunting. Mine is a standard skeet and upland game gun (SKUGG), same gauge but with straight grip stock. Light, fast handling with wide-open chokes, I rate it as the best close-qu...

Re: Perazzi case crumbled interiors
The problem with these and other more modern cases (e.g., molded plastic or fibreglas types) invariably used the more modern synthetic glues to adhere the linings to the interior of the case as opposed to the very early hide glues (as seen in the British oak & leather and leather over wood cases...

Re: He won't post it here
Wat to go Frank!! Z bar Z over in Montana holds such a shoot but it is "full use of the gun" in that you can shoot the three birds and then the larger chips. I did watch a shooter score six at a station using a five-shot Browning autoloader and throwing in a sixth shell in the speedload s...

Hit the screw with a couple of seconds with a Bernz -O- Matic and then douche it with PB Blaster and let it sit overnight. I bet it turns the morning after. Kevin
