Re: Flat side Sterly arrives.
Great score Tom. A 12 ga with 28 inch tubes coming in at six and a half pounds is a great field gun. Looking forward to seeing it a t Ernie's.

Cool gun Frank. Great job on putting her back together. Maybe she will be your tool of choice for the Diesel Smoke event at Mike's this year.

Re: Completed and ready for the Southern
That sure is a beauty Tom, the butt stock came out great. And with those tight chokes I bet she can really reach out. Would be a good choice for the baby BoWhoop at Ernie's. Hope you bring her to that so I can get a look.

Ron, looking forward to seeing you again, and thanks for bringing some new recruits. The more shooters the merrier, and these SxS shoots need more folks to attend to support the shooting venue owners/operators and keep the traditions going.
See ya in June.

Three birds with two shots, and a 20 ga to boot. A couple of those critters must have lined up just perfectly. Congrats Daryl on what is probably a once in a lifetime achievement. Add in using your dad's gun for a great hunt and it sounds like the perfect trip.

Congras Tom. A gold star day like that with a new pup makes all the time and effort you and Annie invested in training over the past year worth it. Glad you could finish the year on such a high note.

Re: What, no upland hunters with Foxes?
Frank, heading to upstate New York for the yearly RGS hunt next weekend with my buddy Steve. Will be using a fine 20ga A grade that I obtained from Kevin. If a bird is unlucky enough to fly into my pattern I will post some pics next week.

Great job Jeff. The first game taken with a new to you gun is always special. That picture is one for your scrap book.

Re: Hunting Season(s) Approaching - What gun(s) will go with you for opening day?
No dove season here in CT, so my first hunt will be the RGS benefit hunt the third week of October. It is held in the Malone, NY area and the grouse and woodcock numbers are usually pretty good. I will be using my old standby grouse gun the first day, a 1903 vintage Parker DH with 26 inch Damascus b...

Re: Grouse Gun
Jeff that's a beautiful gun. I love the round knob grip, and that is a really nice stick of wood. I have never seen an Infallible Trigger in person, is that the barrel selector on the top tang next to the top lever?

Re: off topic cigars
Fred, I have found the Excalibur cigars from Hoyo de Monterrey to be a very nice smoke for not big money. If you want to budget a bit more, the Montecristo White series is hard to beat for a mild smoke.

Re: What's on your Fox shopping list???
Like Jeff, i would love to own a XE someday, but with retirement on the horizon that probably isn't going to happen. I would like to have a nice 12ga CE though, especially if it had 28 inch barrels and weighed less than 7 pounds.

Re: Pattern testing my SF with Boss,TM and Salt Creek ammo.
Jeff, thanks for the continued study on this topic. And the detailed pictures, it sure makes it easier to understand the dynamics of this with good photos. Although i no longer own a SF (sold it back to original owner in a weak moment) I do have several other tight choked guns that I am sure could b...

Re: Let’s get ready
Great conversation starter guys. Jeff, thanks for the starter post. Frank, looks like you are intent on stirring up the membership. OK, I'll bite. I am not a Fox collector, but an admirer of the Fox gun. I do own several and they all get shot, both at clays and game. My 16 ga Fox A & BE, both 28...
