Re: Headed to the Platte River in Nebraska with two Supers
Good luck Craig. You sure will have something pretty to look at if the shooting gets slow. Those supers are fantastic.

Re: Woodcock hunting and blood
Sounds like a banner day Tom, except for the barbed wire thing. It must have felt great to have Annie point those birds for your buddies. Nice that you are getting into birds down there now.

Frank, I will let Craig give the true version, but I think that Crown came from Bill of Robin Hollow fame.

Re: Miss Mollie on a wood duck hunt
Craig, great pictures. I remember seeing that gun last year at Ernie's. First Crown I ever saw that didn't feature dogs on the lock plates. An incredible gun. That pup of yours is having quite the inaugural season, She is a lucky dog to have landed with an avid hunter who can exposer her to great hu...

Craig, congrats to you and Miss Molly. You must be pretty excited about the upcoming season. Will you use her on upland game also or will she be focused on waterfowl? Either way, hope you both have a fun and safe season.

Re: Decisions,Decisions,Decisions
I will be taking my new pup on her first grouse/woodcock hunt in upstate NY the second week of October. The cover and be kind of thick so I will probably use my cut barrel 16 gage A grade. It left the factory with 28 inch barrels choked IC/M, but now sported 26 inch barrels. The chokes are now about...

Re: Almost done.
I know the feeling, Tom. I have zero experience in dog training and just got my first setter pup last spring. With no training I hunted her bonus year (last fall, seven months when season started) on stocked pheasants at my club. She did OK, no problems with the gun, or finding birds. But no discipl...

Re: Double Gun Journal
Frank, in response to your inquiry. I have the new index and reader, and it is impressive in size and the quality of the materials. The book is rather large, 450 some pages, but a fair amount of that is devoted to the indexing and cross referencing of the 18 years' worth of articles published in the...

Re: Mid year 2025 Fox shooting and collecting review
You did well on that B grade Jeff. I have been watching that one for a while and could never get myself to pull the trigger on it. Been trying to save up for an XE and didn't want to deplete the funds. That is a very nice gun.

KUDOs to Daryle for the whole setup. While trapping for these events I watched some of the best shooters, I have ever had the privilege of watching shoot get continually flummoxed by that B bird. And it is a tribute to those same shooters that they didn't just throw in the towel after one try, as ma...

Re: Hausmann’s June 2025
What a great event. This kicks off my double gun year, and it was a good start. I don't shoot much at this event, I will make up for that at Mike's next month, but I love seeing and talking with friends and like-minded folks. I really enjoy interacting with the shooters when trapping for the Letterm...

Great score Tom. A 12 ga with 28 inch tubes coming in at six and a half pounds is a great field gun. Looking forward to seeing it a t Ernie's.
