Re: '13 Sterlingworth Stock Replacement
It didn't crack when shooting RST low pressure loads, it broke when shooting modern loads. Doesn't matter much does it? It's broken!

Re: '13 Sterlingworth Stock Replacement
To have a stock replaced on a Sterlingworth will cost you close to $2k using a qualified craftsman. A broken stock can most likely be repaired so that the repair is almost undetectable. That is the path I would follow for a Sterlingworth. If the stock is unrepairable you may be better off just buyi...

'13 Sterlingworth Stock Replacement
Well, ignoring my better judgement I shot modern loads, instead of the RST low pressure loads I have, through my 12 ga. Sterlingworth and cracked the wrist of the stock. I want to replace the stock, but I have three questions: 1. If I get a new stock, not repair the one I have, would it be able to h...

Re: First Bird with Sterlingworth
Pheasant age can be generally derived by looking at the length of the spurs. A nub is this year's bird, small spur is a year and a long spur is about 2 years. Anything over 2 years is a bonus for a pheasant so birds older than 2 are rare, particularly here in NW IA.

First Bird with Sterlingworth
Iowa's pheasant opener was last Saturday. Took this nice 2 year old rooster on my farm with my new to me Sterlingworth. I was thrilled to take it with some hand loaded low pressure shells I had put together for just this occasion.

First hunt with my "new" Sterlingworth
Opening day of dove season today and shooting the Sterlingworth with RST 7/8 oz load was a pure joy. I shot that thing like I'd hunted with it my entire life. 100 years old and still a meat getter!

Re: Sterlingworth question
Thanks for the info. As the gun has been refinished and based on placing a spent 12ga 2 3/4" shell in the chambers it looks as though they lengthened the chambers too. I went ahead and ordered some RST 7/8 oz loads for it. Now to get used to double triggers! :D I'm only going to use the gun for...

Sterlingworth question
I just picked up a A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 12ga. A. H. Fox is stamped on the barrel and Philadelphia also stamped on the barrel, with S/N 63162. I believe this to correspond to a 1912 manufacture date, is this correct? Also, i purchased this gun from the Cabelas Gun Library and it was listed with 2 3...
