Re: case color

The two factors that most affect case colors are abrasion (handling) and UV exposure (sunlight). The goal would be to minimize both. Don't carry it by the frame and case it when not shooting. I realize that this might be a bit cumbersome but it is the best way to preserve the colors. www.vicknairres...

Re: Trigger Plate Screw Spring & Tang Screw?

Most of the springs on Galazan's web page are not even for a Fox. PM or email me with your name and address and I'll send you one.

Re: Rescuing a blown-up CE by sleeving

Dewey, Is your machine an Atlas? Do you use a 3 or 4 jaw chuck? Nice job on the barrel. Fred Good eye Fred! It is indeed an Atlas 10-F model with both 3 and 4 jaw chucks. I use a 4 jaw for critical operations but for most others ( like making screws or pins ) I just use the 3 jaw universal. You will...

Rescuing a blown-up CE by sleeving

The following sequence of photos illustrates the process of repairing a barrel by the traditional method of sleeving. The subject gun was a CE grade Fox in very high condition except for one not-so-minor blemish. The steps shown here would apply to any side-by-side gun. http://i386.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Newest "after hours" project

Here are a few more photos. The top tang is roughed out and ready to be welded. The floorplate is started and the frame is roughly shaped. The alloy is 1020, just like the full-sized Fox. http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo310/deweyvicknair/IMG_4574.jpg http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo310/dew...

Twice Barrel wrote:Those hands are no "Devils workshop".

Will it remain a mini-Sterlingworth with side plates or go out for some exotic "scratching"?
It will have the same border engraving as the 12 gauge sideplate gun that I built previously.

Newest "after hours" project

I have not yet decided if it will be a .22/.410 combination gun or a .22 and .410 two-barrel set but it will be the little sister to the sideplate gun. Here are some photos so far. The large frame is a 12 gauge Sterly. The small frame is scaled to 62 percent of 12 gauge size, however the finished gu...

Very nice little B Grade. Outstanding wood to metal fit. My B Grade is #873, has no color, but everything else is quite nice. Who did the color on #1087? Maybe Dewey? Bill, all I did was take the photos. Whoever recolored the gun did a nice job but they did not recut the engraving prior to hardening.
