Re: 2025 Vintage Cup Cancelled!

I was on the course at the VGC two years ago when club staffers came by to change trap trajectories because of a narrow shooting window between leafy trees. Some might think that was good ….. but not after competitors had already shot that station for score. Shooters had paid tournament prices for ...

Re: Fox barrels marked "made by Armat or Amart?

I suspect the barrels were added in Liege by the firm, ARMAF. I have 2 guns so barreled. One is a set of 3 1/2" 10 gauge magnums fitted to a #3 frame Parker Grade 2 top lever hammer gun. The other is a rather hefty early A&D Lindner Chas. Daly with a set of 3" 12 gauge magnums and a s...

Is one of those the little 11-F 20 gauge you laid in my hands at Koneski’s a year or two ago ? That sure was a nice feeling little gun ! I’ve always thought 11-F’s in all three gauges and a 32-F would make a nice display .

Re: Which one would it be???

I bought a nice new B-SS sidelock 12 gauge back in the mid 80’s I believe . 12 gauge 26” IC/M checkered butt , bought it for grouse . But shot it more at skeet than anything . At the time I was in my early 20’s and thought heavy trap/skeet loads were the ticket and that gun would wake you up a bit a...

I’d thought Buckingham was partial to I think they were called “Iverson calls” . The pictures I saw of them they had a bit of checkering on them .

Re: Preferred Cases for various tasks

For air travel nothing and I repeat nothing is better than an Americase (if you can find one) . For everything else I used to use LOM for shotguns and kinda stiff soft cases for rifles . Now I still use the same for rifles and Boyt take down for shotguns . Lighter anymore for me is better , LOM case...

Thanks Daryl for your two reports. Sounds like I didn't miss much by not going. Good luck on your upcoming pheasant trip. Good times with your regular crew. Please remind a certain gent to leave his 8 bore at home. Wouldn't want to see him get in trouble. frank You missed my smiling face 8) :...

Re: 2024 Vintagers

I did the Vintagers on Thursday with Mr.’s Corona , Hoover and Bawell and enjoyed it . Only shot two of the fifty bird events and the twenty five bird 8 gauge event . That was plenty for a 3 1/2 hour drive up then a 3 1/2 hour drive home . Made for a kinda long day . But I was glad I went that was m...

Re: Hunting Season(s) Approaching - What gun(s) will go with you for opening day?

Early antlerless deer season starts in VA in my county on 9/7/24 I suspect I may take a Parker shotgun loaded with a 1930’s vintage 0 buck in the right barrel and my handload in the left barrel and of course I’ll have my Mannlicher Schoenauer 6.5x54 MS along .

2024 Vintage Cup

As I’m sure you well know the Vintage Cup is at Hopkins this year October 3-5 that’s like other years Thursday thru Saturday . Last year I got them to do an 8 gauge five stand event . So after doing 8 gauge thirty target events on the course at Hausemanns and Rock Mountain I’d been after them to do ...

Re: Gunslinger results

But the three long barreled Parker’s with premiums added were all over 40k  all DHE’s 20-34” , 28-30” and 28-32” . I’d loved to have had the 28 32” but not at 47k .
