Re: cracked stock

I am sure others more knowledgeable will also comment but, if I remember correctly, that crack looks to be in part of the bearing surface of the receiver. If it is touching the receiver at that point, it will eventually get worse. It is however safe to shoot. This will definitely not be an easy repa...

Re: Looking for a good barrel man for fitting

After careful study I believe Fox held the barrels and frame in a fixture and line-bored the frame and barrels for the hinge pin - which accounts for variances in the positioning of the X, Y and Z axes from gun to gun. Several thou +/- makes a huge difference in barrel fit when trying to swap barre...

Not quite a Fox but still..

One of the projects I am working on at school is to chamber and regulate a double rifle in .450 Nitro Express (3.25in) on a shotgun (AYA) action. I continued work that was started by a previous graduate who prepped the barrels and monoblock. I chambered the barrels last week and spent today tinning ...

Re: Ejector guide pin question

Well, I did try and soak the pins for a few days and I had no joy that way. Ended up clamping the barrels (padded of course) to the side of a mill table and used a small center drill to start a pilot hole. I then drilled the pins (which have a .088 diameter BTW) with a #55 drill. Once I got about ha...

Re: Ejector guide pin question

Neil, pins measure approx 9/16. a strong magnet might pull them out. Bobby Thanks Bobby. I suspect these are stuck in there pretty well and as I received the gun like this, there is no way of knowing how long they have been in there. I estimated the pins to be about that long but wanted to collabora...

Ejector guide pin question

I will post pictures later today. Those that saw my CE Fox at the Southern SxS have seen this. Both the ejector guide pins are broken of and stuck in the block. I am getting ready to remove them but need to know the following: 1. How long are the pins? 2. How are the pins secured in the ejectors? Th...

If you do decide to do it yourself, I would recommend the following book: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Stoc ... 1879356155

This book helped me a lot this semester in school.
