Re: Ejector barrels on a non ejector gun?

So, are you saying the split ejectors shouldn't go on the extractor frame?

Re: Made for Savage Arms Sterlingworth

In another post Silvers is asking about the barrels marked Chickopee Falls. Would you like a photo of such a set of barrel markings for the websiet?

Re: Ejector barrels on a non ejector gun?

Silvers, It isn't my gun just a gun that belongs to a gunshop in town that calls me for gun questions. I was driving yesterday and wondering why Fox would have machned all his recievers for ejectors and then plugged 90% of them I then realized that, from a machinists standpoint, it might be easier t...

Re: Ejector barrels on a non ejector gun?

So the only thing different was the extractors or ejectors were split? I never realized this but you're right. I looked at several of my guns and all show the plugged holes.

I learn something new all the time. This board is a welth of knowlege.

Ejector barrels on a non ejector gun?

It must be the month for me to run accross odd guns. Or maybe I'm just learning. This morning I ran accross a Savage Transition gun: A grade, with Savage marked barrels. When I opened the gun, I saw split extractors that told me it was an ejector gun. I removed the barrels and saw it had an extracto...

Re: A H Fox shotguns with Chicopee stamped barrels

Silvers, I have just such a gun. It's a 1911 Pin gun with two sets of barrels marked Chickopee Falls, fresh tiger stipe case colors, and ejectors. Barrels marked 1 and 2 with forend iron and wood similarly marked. all serialed to the gun. Top of the right barrel roll stamped, "Proof tested 12 g...

Made for Savage Arms Sterlingworth

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =229135932

I know the forend isn't original but how common is the "Made for Savage Arms" inscription?

Also reciever stamped Sterlingworth not Fox Sterlingworth. Transition gun?

Re: 30" Sterlingworth 20, It's here

I got the Sterlingworth today. 30 inch barrels made for the gun sometimes after the Savage takeover. The original barrels must be out there somewhere since these are marked 2 under the serial number. The barrels are in perfect condition but need bluing and judging from the fit, I suspect they were a...

Re: Fox SW ejector round knob 20 gauge??

Resercher, I have a great respect for you knowlege. You truly should write a book about Fox and perhaps other brands of guns. If I had you knowlege, I certainly would. I recoginize that anyone could stamp serial numbers into the head of a shotgun stock but why would someone go to the trouble to do s...

Re: Fox SW ejector round knob 20 gauge??

My son in law has a Sterlingworth 16 that his dad bought used in the 60s. It has a B grade stock, English walnut, finer checkering with checkered side panels, round knob, and the serial number stamped in the head of the stock. The barrels are 26" Improved and modified with over 4" of choke...

30" Sterlingworth 20

I bought a 30" Sterlingworth 20 last night on auction. Serial number is in the 250,000 range but the seller posted it was a Savage Arms gun. I'm wondering if the barrels are a replacement. They are serial numbered to to gun. Really excited to get it and find out what I've bought. I guess I'll k...

Re: What are the odds? Part Deux...

Made me think of a gun, in my safe I call Humpty Dumpty. I was at a gun show and noticed a Sterlingworth reciever, forend, and barrels on a table. There was no stock and no triggerplate or triggers. The barrels were in good shape and I traded a gun I had only a little money in for them. A little lat...

Re: My old Girl off topic

I know she's a great dog. Enjoy her and make sure she enjoys her last years. When my Ernie was 14 1/2 I took him and an older friend named Bob to game preserve for a mallard hunt. The birds were free to fly from pond to pond and weren't released. The hunting was almost like shooting wild birds excep...
