Re: Early A Grade

Well, another question. We are stripping the frame in preparation for ongoing work, but Mike Campbell's disassembly guide stops with the action coming off the stock. Further detailed information on removing the hammers is needed. Is it as simple as removing the pin that that the hammers pivot on, or...

Re: Early A Grade

Now that I have my wood (English walnut of course) brings up another question: What would have been the correct original but plate or recoil pad for the Fox?

Thank you

Re: Case Colors on the Fox Guns

DGKaas stated that "Just be advised that all A. H. Fox guns produced post WWI in Phila. or Utica were hardened using the cyanide process not the charcoal bone method. It is very hard to find someone to replicate this process today with the proper "straw" colors so typical of most ori...

Re: WTB Postings are NOT PERMITTED

My comment is not about complaining about about paying, but rather a question on how to pay? I am from Canada, on the membership application it request a check for dues. Since i do not have a US checking/bank account that is difficult to complete. Since i am only about 45mins away from the NY border...

Re: Early A Grade

Well i had a visit with a local engraver as part of the restoration project. He is going to re-cut all the existing lines and nothing extra. He smoke lifted all the patterns of the frame to document what is there, as we may loose some of them during polishing in preparation for color case hardening....

Re: Philadelphia Arms Fox A grade advice needed

Hey Capt. I have a similar vintage gun that will be restored to original factory specs, s/n 1327 with 26" barrels. I have posted some pics of the frame in my earlier posts and will update as the project progresses. Please post some pics if you can, always a treat to see the old guns. Thanks and...

Re: grouse in NY

Brian
We hunt in the northern parts of the Adirondack Park and i sense the same as your thoughts on the bird populations. I also called the DEC and the biologist that I spoke with also thought that the grouse population maybe on the down cycle.

Early A Grade

Hello all, I recently purchased an early Fox A grade with 26" barrels. At s/n 132X we do not how early other than 1905 0r 1906 according to Mr Callahan. There is no specific information on the the gun as records were not available before s/n 9000-ish. As Mr Callahan has the manufacture cards fo...

Exquisitely done! I just picked up an early A Grade s/n 13xx with 26" barrels, that will be a winter project gun with a full makeover like yours - as inspiration!
