Re: Two Foxes on the mountains
I always enjoy your hunting reports. Beautiful country up there and I hope to hunt there sometime.

Woodcock sightings in Maryland
While deer hunting on Dec. 7, I flushed a total of three woodcock at my hunting area in northern Montgomery County, about 45 minutes from Washington D.C. They will be in season next month, but I have not run into this many birds before. Of course, there will be no sight of them once the season opens...

Re: Food for thought - readers versus posters?
I have one Fox gun, a Sterlingworth that I inherited. I have been a member for two years now, just having renewed. I have learned much from the forum about Fox guns and as this is my first double gun, it has been very beneficial. I shoot trap with my Sterlingworth a few times a year and am looking f...

Re: Safe loads in my Fox?
I shoot only RST shotshells in my Sterlingworth. These are low pressure loads and just the thing for vintage guns. You can also buy by the box at retailers such as Classic Upland Supply.

Maybe you should look around for some trap and skeet ranges in your area. I find that the most fun with my Fox. There might be a IWLA chapter nearby.

My Sterlingworth is 1918 vintage, so I am sticking with RST. Strictly bird shot in my gun.

sterlingworth on youtube
This kid does some things with a Sterlingworth that I would never try. Look for the Remington slugs about five minutes into the video.

I shot a couple rounds with my Sterlingworth earlier this week. It was a hot summer day and the barrels really seemed to get pretty hot out there. Does anyone use those leather barrel guards that fit just forward of the forend? Or is just a good leather shooting glove sufficient? I did have a lot of...

take down case for sterlingworth in mind
I am thinking about getting a take down case for my Sterlingworth. I see Orvis and Connecticut Shotgun, among others, offer take down cases. Is this the best way to transport the gun? Of course, I would never let the airport baggage handlers get hold of it! But it seems such a case would be more pro...

turkey hunting with a Sterlingworth
Just thinking of the upcoming spring turkey season in Maryland and wouldn't it be great to take a turkey with an old Fox shotgun! No camo or special turkey chokes here. Any recommendation for RST shot? This is something I will have to think through. I am sure that many turkeys have been taken with A...

Sterlingworth 2 3/4 inch chambers
I was able to get the chambers measured on my 12 ga. Sterlingworth and they are 2 3/4 inches. Beforehand I bought a couple boxes of RST 2 1/2 inch shells. They also manufacture 2 3/4 inch shells, so I will go with that after shooting up what I have on hand. I assume that the 2 3/4 inch shells might ...

Re: 1936 Fox Sterlingworth 12 Gauge
I am just a beginner at this, but Sterlingworths are not graded guns. Some are used as project guns and have custom engraving added. The Sterlingworths were simple guns with all the mechanical features of more expensive Fox guns without the fancy engraving and fine wood of the graded guns.

Re: Dogholes, apples and a Fox, paper shells added
So where can you get these pumpkin balls to shoot through a Fox? Are there any manufacturers of low pressure loads or is it best to load your own shells? Such a load would be handy if you ran into some deer while out hunting for woodcock. I don't RST makes any slug shells.
