Re: AE Fox single barrel
Cosmetics aside, is the choke and bore original? Nobody likes to mess with that more than a trap shooter.

Re: Firing pin question
Take it to someone who has experience on doubles. It sounds like a worn sear or hammer notch and would best be checked by a gunsmith.

Re: 16 and gauge 2-1/2" load data
Pretty much any data on a 2 3/4" shell is going to work in a 2 1/2" load. The main difference is in the wad column and crimp type. I use roll crimps on short shells and the same wad and load as 2 3/4". Depending on what hull you use you might have to change the wad to get it all to fit.

Re: Extractor rim cuts
Back in the day, I would guess that they would drill a flat plate and put the groove in with a horizontal boring bar with a single point piece of tool steel ( this is called a fly cut). Then the plate would be sawn in half and you'd have 2 parts. As you suggest, it could also be cut with a piloted e...

Re: Laser welding work - what can be done
One more question, do you need to bead blast the pits to remove all rust or does the weld pull the slag to the surface?

Re: Laser welding work - what can be done
Thanks Frank. Now I get what's going on there. Good idea on the muzzle fixture. At this end of PA, up near my camp, there is a micro weld company in Meadville. I'm going to check them out this summer and find out what all they can do on firearms and maybe get a look at the equipment and what is invo...

Re: Laser welding work - what can be done
Frank, is the brass round stock in the third photo used as a contact point for the welder or something more mysterious? Also, is the fixture in the fourth picture a radius gauge or does it have another purpose? This procedure is very interesting. Fred

Re: 2 5/8 Chamber Question
I'd go with Mr. Schwarz. If you need to run the occasional 2 3/4" shell through a good condition Fox you won't hurt a thing. Pattern wise you probably wont be loosing any thing with the shorter shell. Most people don't spend much time at the pattern board but I find that it is time well investe...

Re: Screw timing question
Also keep in mind that the thread depth and small diameters that you are dealing with in combination with the previously mentioned years of over tightening and crud will cause small changes in thread engagement and pitch angle. It doesn't take a whole lot to move a screw slot out of line. I would ag...

Re: 1934 16 GA. Sterlingworth Ejector
Very nice Utica gun. If you're out at Moraine or on SGL151 chasing pheasants next season, I'll be the other guy out there with a 16 Sterlingworth. Your gun has the perfect chokes for the cover on 151. Fred

Re: Fox Savage model b series h 20ga dbl triggered
The front trigger fires the right barrel, the rear trigger fires the left barrel. If you are not familiar with firearms I would suggest having a local gunsmith take a look at it to be sure that it is safe to fire and also get some ammunition recommendations. I'd also suggest a Hunter Safety class.
